Quick Answer
Stop work, get to safety, notify your supervisor as soon as possible, but no later than the same day, and follow the required medical, reporting, and return-to-work steps.
What to Do Immediately
-
Stop work immediately and get to a safe location.
-
Call 9-1-1 for life-threatening injuries.
-
Notify your supervisor as soon as possible, even if the injury seems minor.
-
For non-emergency injuries, your supervisor will help contact the Medcor Nurse Triage Line for medical guidance.
-
Follow all care instructions and medical restrictions exactly.
What Happens Next (Important Steps)
-
Medcor Guidance: For non-emergency injuries, Medcor (1-815-846-2380) will assess symptoms and direct appropriate care. Every LWG location has a Medcor Nurse Hotline poster displayed in the shop.
-
Medical Treatment & Documentation: If treatment is required, attend all appointments and follow provider instructions. You may be asked to provide documentation as part of the process.
-
Return-to-Work Requirements: After each medical visit, submit a Return-to-Work Authorization from your treating provider. Generic notes such as “can work” are not accepted. Restrictions must be specific and time-bound. You may not return to full duty or work outside restrictions without written medical release, and HR must review and approve documentation.
-
Stay in Communication: Keep your supervisor and HR informed of changes in your condition and continue following restrictions until formally released.
Important Reminders
-
Report injuries early. Waiting can worsen injuries and delay care or benefits.
-
Do not use personal health insurance for work-related injuries.
-
Knowingly providing false or misleading injury information may constitute insurance fraud and may result in corrective action or legal consequences in accordance with applicable law
