A timekeeping violation occurs when time is not recorded accurately, completely, or honestly in Dayforce. Timekeeping violations can impact pay accuracy and legal compliance and are taken seriously by LWG.

Common Timekeeping Violations

Examples of timekeeping violations include, but are not limited to:

  • Working off the clock: Performing any job duties before clocking in or after clocking out.

  • Buddy punching: Clocking in or out for another team member, or allowing someone else to clock in or out for you.

  • Falsifying time records: Intentionally altering, misrepresenting, or failing to record hours worked.

  • Failing to record meal or rest breaks: Not clocking in and out for breaks as required.

  • Working through unpaid meal periods: Performing work during an unpaid meal break without clocking back in.

  • Repeated missed punches without reporting: Failing to promptly notify a supervisor of time entry errors.

  • Using the wrong time clock buttons intentionally: Misusing Dayforce buttons to alter recorded time.

What Is Not a Violation

  • Honest mistakes that are reported promptly

  • Technical issues that are reported immediately

  • Errors corrected through proper supervisor or HR review

LWG encourages timely reporting so issues can be corrected quickly and fairly.

How Violations Are Addressed

Timekeeping violations are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, considering:

  • Whether the issue was intentional or accidental

  • The frequency of the behavior

  • The severity of the behavior

  • Prior coaching or corrective action

  • Applicable laws and policies

Corrective action may range from coaching to corrective action, up to and including termination, depending on the circumstances.

If You Have a Concern

If you believe:

  • Your time was recorded incorrectly

  • You were asked or pressured to work off the clock

  • Someone is falsifying time records

Report the concern immediately to your supervisor or HR.
