Quick Answer
LWG expects all team members to maintain regular, punctual attendance and to communicate promptly with their supervisor if they will be late, absent, or need to leave early. Reliable attendance is essential to safe operations, customer service, and teamwork.
Core Attendance Expectations
-
Be On Time and Ready to Work: Team members are expected to arrive on time for all scheduled shifts and be ready to work at the start of their shift.
-
Notify Your Supervisor if You Will Be Late or Absent:
-
If you will be absent for a full or partial shift or arrive late, you must notify your supervisor as far in advance as possible, and no less than two (2) hours before your scheduled start time.
-
If an emergency or unexpected circumstance occurs, notify your supervisor as soon as possible.
-
-
Leaving Work During a Shift: If you need to leave work for any reason during your scheduled shift, you must obtain supervisor approval before leaving.
What Is Considered an Excused Absence?
Absences or lateness may be considered excused when they meet one of the following conditions:
-
Approved Time Off: The time off was requested according to LWG PTO policy and approved in advance.
-
Approved Leave of Absence: The absence was approved under an applicable leave policy (for example, approved bereavement leave).
-
Legally Protected Leave: Absences that are protected under federal, state, or local law, such as leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
-
Illness (When Permitted by Law): In some cases, and to the extent permitted by state or local law, illness-related absences may require a doctor’s note to be considered excused.
In certain situations, LWG may also require a doctor’s note before returning to work following an illness, as permitted by law.
Attendance Issues and Corrective Action
Excessive absenteeism, tardiness, unauthorized absences, or unscheduled early departures may result in corrective action, which may include:
-
Coaching or counseling
-
Verbal or written warnings
-
Suspension
-
Termination of employment
Corrective action is determined based on the circumstances and in accordance with applicable laws.
Job Abandonment Reminder
To the extent permitted by state or local law, if a team member fails to notify their supervisor and does not report to work for three (3) consecutive scheduled shifts, the team member may be considered to have voluntarily resigned and may be removed from payroll.
