Quick Answer

If you are injured at work, medical treatment depends on the severity of the injury.

  • Life-threatening injuries: Call 9-1-1 immediately.

  • Non-life-threatening work injuries: Notify your supervisor and call the Medcor Nurse Triage Line at 1-815-846-2380 before seeking care.

Medcor will guide next steps and help determine whether medical treatment is needed and where to go.

What To Do Immediately After a Work Injury

  1. Get to Safety
    • Stop work right away.
    • If the injury is life-threatening, call 9-1-1.
  2. Notify Your Supervisor
    • Report all work-related injuries as soon as practicable and no later than the same day, even if the injury seems minor.
  3. Call Medcor (Non-Emergency Injuries)
    • Call the Medcor Nurse Triage Line: 1-815-846-2380
    • A licensed nurse will assess symptoms, provide care guidance, and refer you to appropriate care if needed.

Where Will I Receive Medical Treatment?

  • If medical care is required, Medcor will direct you to the appropriate level of care, which may include:

    • Self-care or first aid guidance

    • An urgent care clinic

    • An occupational health provider

    • Emergency care, if warranted

  • Do not go to a medical provider for a work injury without first contacting Medcor, unless it is a life-threatening emergency.

Designated Medical Providers (State-Specific)

  • Medical treatment requirements may vary by state. In some states, employees may have the right to choose their medical provider, while in others, treatment may be coordinated through designated providers. Medcor and HR will help ensure care is coordinated in accordance with applicable state requirements.

What Should I Bring to My Medical Appointment?

If you are referred for medical treatment, bring:

  • Workers’ Compensation Coverage Information

  • A copy of your Job Description

  • A Return-to-Work Release Form

  • Any instructions provided by Medcor or your supervisor

These documents help ensure proper billing, treatment decisions, and return-to-work planning.

Important Reminders

  • Every LWG work location has a Medcor Nurse Hotline poster displayed in the shop with the phone number and instructions.

  • Do not use personal health insurance for work-related injuries.

  • Follow all medical instructions and restrictions exactly as provided.
