Quick Answer
PTO pay is calculated based on your pay type and the number of PTO hours approved and used. How PTO hours are entered and paid differs for hourly, commission, and salaried (exempt) team members. The official LWG Paid Time Off Policy governs all PTO rules, eligibility, conditions, and usage requirements.
How PTO Pay Is Calculated by Pay Type
Hourly Team Members
-
Hourly team members may enter the exact number of PTO hours needed for a day (for example, 2 hours, 4 hours, or 8 hours).
-
PTO is paid at your regular hourly rate.
-
Calculation: Hourly rate × PTO hours used
-
Example: If your hourly rate is $20 and you use 4 hours of PTO, you will be paid $80 in PTO.
Commission-Based Team Members
-
Commission-based team members may also enter the exact number of PTO hours needed for a day.
-
PTO is paid using an effective hourly rate, calculated from a rolling 12-month average of eligible earnings divided by eligible hours.
-
Eligible earnings and hours used in the calculation only include:
-
Regular earnings & hours
-
Overtime earnings & hours
-
Overtime premium & hours
-
Commission earnings
-
-
The effective rate is multiplied by the number of PTO hours taken.
-
Bonuses of any kind (including spiffs, prior PTO, or holiday pay) are excluded from the effective rate calculation.
Salaried (Exempt) Team Members
-
Salaried team members use PTO in full-day increments only.
-
PTO is applied as 8 hours for a full day missed.
-
Exempt team members must miss a full day of work to use PTO.
Important PTO Notes
-
PTO must be submitted and approved in Dayforce to be paid.
-
PTO is only paid up to your available accrued balance.
-
PTO does not count as hours worked for overtime calculations.
-
PTO usage and balances are tracked in Dayforce for reporting and recordkeeping.
-
All PTO usage is subject to policy terms, scheduling requirements, and supervisory approval.
