Quick Answer

Leeds West Groups has a zero-tolerance policy for workplace violence, threats, or weapons. Any behavior that creates fear, harm, or risk to people or property is strictly prohibited and will be investigated immediately.

LWG’s Commitment to a Safe Workplace

LWG is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and secure workplace for all team members, customers, and visitors. Violence or threats of violence are never acceptable in any work-related setting. Workplace violence includes physical acts, verbal threats, intimidation, harassment, or any behavior that creates fear or harm.

Reporting & Response

All threats or acts of violence, no matter how minor, must be reported immediately. For emergencies, follow the Emergency Action Plan in the LWG Safety Manual. When safe, notify a supervisor and HR as soon as possible. Violations may result in corrective action, up to and including termination, and may involve law enforcement when appropriate.

Emergency Response Guidance (Active Threat Situations)

If you believe there is an immediate threat of violence or an active emergency, follow the guidance below to protect yourself and others.

Recognize the Signs Early

  • Report threats, intimidation, weapons, or suspicious behavior to a supervisor or HR immediately when safe to do so.

  • Trust your instincts. If something feels unsafe, prioritize your personal safety.

Run > Hide > Fight Protocol

This protocol applies only in active threat situations:

  • Run (Evacuate): Evacuate the area if it is safe to do so. Help others escape if possible. Leave belongings behind.

  • Hide (Shelter-in-Place): If evacuation is not possible, lock or barricade doors, silence phones, stay quiet, and remain out of view.

  • Fight (Last Resort): As a last resort only, and only if your life is in immediate danger, take action to disrupt or defend against the attacker.

Emergency Response Actions

  • Call 911 as soon as it is safe. Provide the location, suspect description, injuries, and any known weapons.

  • Alert others only if doing so does not increase your own risk.

  • Remain on site after the incident until cleared by law enforcement.

After the Incident

  • Cooperate fully with emergency responders and leadership.

  • Complete any required incident reports.

  • Reach out to HR or the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for confidential support and counseling.

Detailed emergency response procedures, reporting requirements, and safety protocols are outlined in the LWG Safety Manual and Emergency Action Plan, which are the governing documents. In the event of any inconsistency, the Safety Manual controls.
