At Leeds West Groups, payroll garnishments are handled carefully, confidentially, and in accordance with all legal and compliance requirements.

Quick Answer
The HR team is responsible for all garnishment administration. All garnishment orders and releases must be sent directly to the HR team by the official issuing or managing agency for processing.

Important Things to Know

  • For legal and compliance reasons, HR cannot establish, change, pause, or terminate a garnishment based on documentation or requests provided by a team member, even if the request appears valid.

  • HR can only fulfill action requests related to garnishment orders when official documentation is received directly from the issuing agency or court.

  • Garnishment-related documents should not be handled at the store level or by supervisors.

  • Any garnishment documentation received outside of the corporate office must be redirected to HR immediately.

How Garnishment Documents Must Be Submitted

Issuing agencies should submit garnishment-related documents to HR using one of the following methods:

When Will a Garnishment Start or Stop Showing on My Paycheck?

HR is required to follow all legal guidelines when processing garnishments and cannot make exceptions outside of official authorization. A garnishment will begin after HR receives official documentation directly from the issuing agency and processes it in the payroll system.

  • Timing may vary based on:

    • The date HR receives the order or release

    • Payroll processing timelines

    • Legal notice and response requirements

  • A garnishment will continue until HR receives an official release or termination notice from the issuing agency.

  • Garnishments cannot be stopped, paused, or adjusted based on verbal requests or documents provided by a team member.

If You Have Questions About a Garnishment

HR can help explain:

  • How garnishments appear on pay statements

  • When deductions typically begin or end after official documentation is received

  • Where the issuing agency should send the required documentation

However, HR cannot override, delay, or modify garnishments without official authorization from the issuing agency.
