Quick Answer

In some situations, yes.

Important to Know

  • Illness-related absences may require a doctor’s note to be considered excused, where permitted by state or local law.

  • In certain situations, a return-to-work note may also be required, as permitted by law.

  • Your supervisor or HR may ask follow-up questions or request documentation to ensure attendance is tracked accurately and consistently.

  • If an illness prevents advance notice, you must notify your supervisor as soon as reasonably possible once you are able.

  • HR can provide more situational guidance when needed by reaching out via a HappyFox ticket.
