Employees are entitled, encouraged, and expected to observe meal and rest periods provided in accordance with LWG policy and applicable state and local law. Rest periods should not be taken at either the beginning or end of the workday to offset arrival and departure times. To the extent permitted by state and local law, rest periods may be combined with the lunch period at the supervisor's discretion, not to exceed 60 minutes.
Employees are to be completely relieved from duty during their meal break. If a nonexempt employee is required to perform any work duties during their meal break period, the employee must be compensated for the time spent performing work duties. The time spent working during the meal break will be counted toward the total hours worked.
No employee may impede or deny another employee from taking meal and/or rest periods provided under this policy and to the extent provided by applicable laws. Employees who believe they were not provided the opportunity to take all rest periods authorized and permitted under this policy or by law should inform their supervisor or manager and, if not corrected, Human Resources.
